The Backstory of Refuge from the Storm

Aug 14, 2020 | Uncategorized

Refuge from the storm was a long, solid look over my shoulder. I was looking back at the ground I’ve covered, the lessons learned and the world I’ve experienced to this point.

It is about the simple moments that mean so much, the raw and beautiful truth that swirls around the good and bad in our lives, and the perspective that we gain along our path that stitches it all together. It’s about the churn—the constant sea of chaos that we wade through and the armor that we develop to protect ourselves from the storm. But it’s also a quiet smile at the ground we’ve gained in spite of it all, and a nod to the struggle.

But in that moment, as I let the idea of the song unfold, I also felt connected to the road ahead-knowing that no matter what the churn might bring, I will continue to reach and learn.

I hope this song resonates and helps people connect to that mindset in which they can and will endure whatever challenges they face, and cherish the ride along the way with an open mind and a grateful heart. Thankful and mindful for where they’ve been, confident and connected to where they are going.

“And it rings through my soul, like the strings ring through this wood—these tracks I leave upon this earth…”
